Developing Strategy and Processes in Electronic Invoicing - Case Study

Abstract

The initiative for this study was the need, to further develop the electronic invoice receiving process in the case company and to create a strategy to enable the desired volume increase in received electronic invoices. An explorative case study was conducted in order to reach the desired results. The study was made by first drawing the process pictures of different processes around the electronic invoicing, and after that analysis about the current situation was made. The analysis clearly pointed out the bottlenecks that were then removed. As the next step, invoice and supplier data was analyzed and further on a country study was made to help decide where the concept of electronic invoicing could most easily be taken into use. Regarding the processes, several development measures were done and the results of those evaluated after they had been used for some time. The country study strengthened the assumptions of the most suitable countries to be chosen for the concept implementation and the used invoice and supplier data offered a lot of interesting information as well as possibilities for interesting follow-up studies.
