Uutta karttaa kasvatustieteen maastoista täydennettävä

Abstract

Tämä artikkeli koskee kahta kasvatustieteiden tutkimuksista tehtyä karttaa, vanhaa ja uutta. Vanha viittaa artikkeliin Heikkinen ym. (2005) ja uusi artikkeliin Ikonen ym. (2025). Vanha kartta pyrkii artikkelin abstraktin mukaan ”kuvaamaan sekä metodista että tieteenfilosofista tasoa: miten filosofiset suuntaukset heijastuvat eri metodeihin.” Uudesta kartasta kirjoittajat kertovat artikkelinsa abstraktissa: ”Teemme ehdotuksen post-lähestymistapojen sijoittamiseksi Kasvatus-lehdessä 2005 julkaistuun karttaan kasvatustieteen maastosta.”

Esitän, että kummassakin kartassa, vanhassa ja uudessa, on oletettu, ettei tutkimus aiheuta pysyviä muutoksia tutkimuskohteeseen. Monessa tieteessä: arkkitehtuurissa, aluetieteessä ja useassa teknisessä tieteessä tutkimuksen keskeinen tarkoitus on muuttaa maailmaa tavoitteellisesti. Ei vuoden 2005 eikä vuoden 2025 kartta sisällytä sallittujen tutkimuskohteiden joukkoon ilmiötä, joita on tarkoitus tutkimuksen kuluessa muuttaa pysyvästi, siis luoda uutta todellisuutta. Kerron, miten urapolkuni tietyt tapahtumat ovat luoneet pohjaa kommentille. Sitten osoitan, miten muualla uuden todellisuuden luonti on otettu tutkimuskohteeksi. Lopuksi pohdin, mitä uusia tutkimusongelmia uudesta kohteesta seuraa.

This article concerns two maps based on educational studies. We call them old and new. The old map refers to Heikkinen et al. (2005) and the new one to Ikonen et al. (2025). The old map attempts to describe the terrain of studies in education at two levels: methodological and philosophical, examining how philosophical orientations are reflected in different methods. The authors of the new map like to propose how to locate new methodical ”post” approaches into the old map.

To my mind, in the old and new maps, the authors have assumed that a study does not cause permanent changes in the object of study. This is often true. But, in such sciences as architecture, regional science, and technical sciences, a researcher wants to purposefully change the world. Neither the old map nor the new one includes such a research object, where the goal of the researcher is to purposefully change a research object. It means that a new piece of reality is created or built. In this article, I first describe how some events in my career have laid a foundation for this study. I then demonstrate how the development of a new piece of reality has elsewhere been taken to be a research object. Finally, I propose some new research problems in this topic.
