PROPOSAL FOR DEVELOPMENT OBJECTS IN JOINT VENTURE SUPPORT

Abstract

This thesis aims to find out possible development objects in joint venture support processes in a case company. Thesis focuses to purchasing processes and aims to create proposals for development objects.

Theoretical part of study focuses to purchasing processes and supply chain management. Empirical part of the study holds in review of case company, enquiry analysis and proposal for development objects.

Case company of the study is Wärtsilä, which has founded joint ventures to be closer its end customers in different markets. Joint ventures assemble similar products as assembled in Wärtsilä’s main factories. Joint ventures are supported by Wärtsilä’s other delivery centres and purchasing department has a strong role in the support process.

Thesis can be seen as a methods study, it tries to find development objects by enquiry, in joint venture support processes. Responses for enquiry were received from different workers within the joint venture support process.

Study reached to create a proposal for development objects, development objects relate to processes, management and information management. Proposal may not be generally applicable, but the case company could use the results for improving their processes.
