Former studies imply a shortage among academics of studying IT system adoption process from a dual perspective in the health sector. Besides, existing literature on IT system adoption process in health sector focus generally to study it only from a single perspective by utilizing a different kind of technology acceptance models. Even though academics have also divided IT system adoption process into three folded levels, the current literature does not investigate comprehensively all-important dimensions under them. Neither by comparing how suppliers’ and customers’ perspective distinct from each other under every different level. Therefore, the research question fulfilled in this study is: What are the key events of the IT system’s adoption process from dual (customer and supplier) perspective? So as to provide comprehensive conclusion when replying this question, in this study is covered in the following order the different essential themes based on existing literature: adoption of IT systems, IT systems in healthcare and adoption of IT system in healthcare. Besides, derived from the comparative empirical findings from the research performed for this study and combined with literature, the author’s created framework is introduced. As well as, the invented additional dimensions for it.
This study is qualitative in kind and the research logic followed is a mixture of deduction and induction. Semi-structured interviews were performed as a data collection method, and the respondents were two IT system supplier’s representatives and two customer companies of it, in the B2B sector. The findings proposed that cooperation between supplier and customer IT system adoption process should be well-organized and IT suppliers should be more aware of their actual reputation’s impact on its business success.
As a theoretical contribution to the current literature, this study expands the prevailing knowledge on IT system adoption process and provides a more polished view on how this particularly occurs in health sector from a dual perspective. As a managerial implication of this study is executed a framework to facilitate in administrative level working person or business consultant to get more clarified picture what is necessary to taken into consideration from dual perspective to avoid of encountering problems.
