Tiivistelmä
The goal of the thesis was to create a test automation tool which can be used to the multimedia testing of the mobile devices. The research contained a development of the software architecture which supports all needed features of the test automation and also the needs of the customers. The research investigated the main testing methods and algorithms which are used when the multimedia features are tested. Finally, six tests were developed to evaluate the algorithms and to create the first pilot version which will be introduced to the customers.
The used theory behind the multimedia testing was the pattern recognition. The theory was described using several sources from the previous researches. The implementation of the tool was based to the algorithms of the OpenCV, which is open sourced library of the computer vision. Using the suitable architecture and open sourced algorithms, the test automation tool named MAX was implemented.
The thesis contains also an overview of the test automation itself. The main attributes, limitations and benefits were introduced as well as the current state of the test automation and how the test environment has been changed during the last decades.
The research clarified that the importance and need of the test automation is increasing all the time. The changes in the software engineering and product realization requires more and more efficient testing and test automation also in those areas which are used to test manually. The main result of this thesis, the MAX tool, defines one solution to improve the testing of the mobile devices. It offers a flexible and efficient environment to the multimedia testing.
