This study focuses on exploring factors affecting the decision-making process and strategy implementa-tion from communications’ point of view. The study makes an overview of decision-making processes, strategy creation and general communication methods used in an organization. The aim is to discover how challenging strategic communication is, and which aspects should be considered beforehand in order to ensure successful strategy implementation process in an organization.
In the theoretical part of this study, the focus is in organizational decision-making process as well as generic strategy creation process. The link between these two is combined with aspect of communications in decision-making processes as well as strategy implementation. Theoretical background is a combination of national and international sources that creates the frame for this study.
Empirical part discussed the theoretical aspects in the light empirical findings. Empirical study has been created as interviews in an organization where the case study has been completed in. Interviews have been conducted in an organization that undergoes current strategic changes, hence the aspect of strategy implementation is in progress. Interviews have been conducted in March 2015 and the interviewees com-posed of organizations’ employees; both from managerial level as well as operational level.
The findings of the study depicted how focus on strategy implementation processes earlier in their pro-cesses could have enabled the organization to overcome obstacles easier. The interviews depicted how organization has been facing challenges in employee motivation, participation as well as in general at-mosphere of security. Despite of the challenges, case organization has been able to overcome the chal-lenges and current status within the organization is stable.
